Polygonal Marriage in Suburbia!

A computer game based on The Godfather will be bumped way down the weirdness scale when, this fall, Buena Vista Games will release their Desperate Housewives game.

Oh yes, you read me right - those Desperate Housewives. The game is even narrated by Brenda Strong. USA Today reports that you play a character who has just moved to Wisteria Lane, who suffers from amnesia as the result of a car accident 20 years ago. The goal of the game is to unlock the dark secrets of your past, presumably while gossiping and keeping your husband out of the clutches of the other housewives. And while stealing their husbands.

Mary Schyler, the game’s producer says, “As fans of the show would expect, the game is loaded with gossip, betrayal, murder and sex - you know, all the things women like.”

In terms of playability, it will a lot like The Sims - same elevated camera angle, and you’ll be buying appliances with money you win in weekly poker games. If you run out of money, you can break into your neighbor’s house and take their appliances.

One has to wonder about the target audience for this game. Do Desperate Housewives fans have the time or the inclination to waste on interactive media? This is essentially Grand Theft Auto for soccer moms.
