Ratings Watch: Big Deal
I’m afraid this is a particularly un-shocking week of info, of only minor interest. But it’s still more interesting than watching the shows! Numbers are Rating/Millions of Viewers
- American Idol (TUE) — 16.6/28.8
- American Idol (Wed) — 15.7/26.2
- CSI — 14.7/23.3
- House — 13.5/22.7
- NCAA Basketball –11.2/17.5
- Deal or No Deal — 10.7/17.74
- Without a Trace — 10.4/15.2
- NCIS — 10.0/15.5
- Law ‘N Order SVU — 9.9/15.4
- The Unit — 9.9/15.4
It’s nice to see House, a formulaic but well-put-together show, climbing up so high. Enough already with the American Idol though - thank God they can’t crank out shows all year long.
Top Cable spot goes to Sopranos (5.1/8.6) with wrestling taking the next two spots. Syndication remains the feifdom of Merv Griffin, with Wheel of Fortune (9.0/13.8) followed by Jeopardy (7.2/10.7). If the world is destroyed by nuclear war, Wheel will still be on 5 nights a week, played by cockroaches.
Among African Americans the top two spots are STILL American Idol but with 18.0/3.7 on Tuesday and 17.8/3.2 on Wednesday. Hispancs favor Alborada (21.5/3.9) and Bailando Por Un Sueno (21.3/4.0). The lower rating/more viewers was explained to me this week by Nielson Customer Service - Viewers in this case is HOUSEHOLDS, so the number of actual viewers can be a little problematic. Don’t sweat it.
