World Of Warcraft Can Wait

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Add this to the list of things you won’t be getting for Christmas: Blizzard Entertainment has announced it will delay the release of WORLD OF WARCRAFT: THE BURNING CRUSADE until January, to allow time to make it all nice and shiny and polished. Or at least playable.
World Of Warcraft, an online game recently given a [...]

The Tom Cruise Machine Is Running Again, But Not On Premium

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

There was this guy, used to work for Paramount - short fellah, named Cruise I think. Yeah, Tom Cruise. He’s been wandering the streets of Los Angeles, homeless, begging for money to feed his child but starve his wife at the same time. Haven’t seen hide nor hair of him since August.
Well, he’s been offered [...]

iPods - A Buncha Reasons To Hate ‘Em

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

The iPod is 5 years old this week, and from the beginning it has gobbled up the portable media player market. It’s just this close to becoming synonymous with “mp3 player” the same way that adhesive bandages are called “band-aids” and slide fasteners are called “zippers”. Gizmodo, bless their gadget-lovin’ hearts, has put out a [...]

Amazon Unbox: Un-popular

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Check out this Digg page full of user comments about the Amazon movie download service, Unbox. Usually you’ll see a range of opinions about a new service - some people like it, some people hate it, and they type increasingly angry messages to each other with the caps-lock on. Unbox is a uniter, not a [...]

“Normal” Al Yankovic

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Once in a while I like to settle back and read a piece by someone who has the time and inclination to think, unlike me. So when I came across this article in Slate about the cultural place of “Weird Al” Yankovic, it was like, well, a big chunk of ham on Christmas Day.
This is [...]

GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA TO MARRY MAN 34 YEARS YOUNGER
It’s not like she’s robbing the cradle, she’s 79 years old. So he’s 45. Then again, they’ve been dating for 22 years, so they met when she was 57 and he was 23. Hmmmm. It IS like she’s robbing the cradle.
CAMERON REILLY TO EMIGRATE TO AMERICA

Madonna, Without All That Bothersome Controversey

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Whew! NBC/Universal is just wearing me out this week!
Reuters reports that a filmed concert of Madonna’s CONFESSIONS tour, to air on NBC during sweeps on November 22nd, will not include footage of la diva suspended in a cross and wearing a crown of thorns. This is, you may know, the single damn thing about the tour [...]

NBC Losing Game, Changing the Rules

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Alright, you’ve probably already seen the news: NBC-TV is going to drastically reduce costs by layoffs, consolidating departments, reducing the news budget and changing the reality-show/scripted-show ratio. My thoughts:

No scripted shows in the 8:00pm slot - people don’t want scripts before 9:00pm? Weird.
Universal Music Group’s policy of suing everybody everywhere IS a revenue stream gambit!
Bob Wright [...]
