Dave Diamond Responds!
The other day I gave you the story of Dave Diamond, cable TV producer who is trying to win a posthumous pardon for Jim Morrison. The original post can be found here. It drew a particularly unflattering response from “Bob”, which Mr. Diamond addresses below. In the interest of fairness, I will point out that I used the nickname “DIAMOND DAVE” first, but I was only kidding.
Ok, several points here.
1. His comments about my “not cutting it in radio.”
I have been a television producer for 16 years. I have never worked in radio nor do I have a desire to work in radio, so that description is laughable.
2. My outlets include DATV, MVCC, CAC (Time Warner North), some broadcasts on the adjacent Yellow Springs, Ohio channel and several years ago, my programming was included in a one hour presentation, along with many other shows as part of a BBC produced documentary on indy television. My primary base is Dayton Ohio.
Bob’s efforts should directed towards Ohio Senate Bill 117, which if passed, would totally eliminate all indy television and directly impact his television, computer and 1st Amendment. Instead of catcalling people on message boards, why not give us a hand in writing Ohio officials and trying to save free speech television?
Here’s more information: http://www.datv.org/
3. His calling me a loud mouth/big mouth.
I don’t deny that. I play rock, punk and metal on my show. It’s part of the show.
As far as looking into monitors, since my show originates from a control room and not a studio, there are monitors all over the room. But, sometimes I am watching a television, football, baseball or VH-1 during my show’s broadcast. Since I wear shades, how exactly does Bob know WHAT I’m looking at? Sometimes I SLEEP in between songs! Wait until I play “In A Gadda Da Vida!”
4. His calling me an idiot.
Obviously, he doesn’t know me outside of my show.
5. “Diamond” Dave” is not my name. That’s David Lee Roth’s handle.
My name is Dave Diamond, I assume that’s not hard to read, say or remember?

I can’t begin to tell you how much I’m enjoying this story! Bob… you’ve made my day.
