Kasdan’s Triumphant Return to Schlock

Lawrence Kasdan - screenwriting hero. You know who wrote RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK? Lawrence. THE BIG CHILL? Lawrence. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA? Robert Bolt. But Lawrence did write THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, which is not dissimilar.

Medusa, m'friendNow after years of MUMFORD, WYATT EARP, BODY HEAT and the ACCIDENTAL TOURIST, Kasdan is returning to less refined fare. The trades are saying that Kasdan has been signed to write a remake of CLASH OF THE TITANS, the greek myth/geek fest which is best known as both Ray Harryhausen’s last movie and Sir Laurence Olivier’s biggest money grab. And now the project comes back, ready to pump money into the accounts of another slumming genius.

Per the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER:

The story revolves around Zeus’ son, Perseus, and his journey to save Princess Andromeda during which he must complete various tasks set out by Zeus, including capturing Pegasus and slaying Medusa.

Zeus sucks as a dad, doesn’t he?

No director yet, no casting news. Any suggestions? I’m looking chiefly for Zeus, Perseus, and Medusa.

Co-Wrote ESB with the late sci-fi great Leigh Brackett. Honestly.

I’d ask you to turn in your Star Wars Super-Jedi fan club card, but you have me out-pointed with all that Harryhausen fooferah.
