<description>"The Wild, Wild West" was (and still is) a slippery slope to me. It's not that it seemed too farfetched for me (I loved "The Twilight Zone" and even thought "Gilligan's Island" had a certain logic to it). ANd it's not that I thought it was dumb-- unlike "Lost in Space," which I'm proud to admit insulted my intelligence as a six-year-old. I guess I just never got the "James Bond-Secret Agent-Western" premise. I couldn't make the conceptual leap, I guess.

The WWW movie (which I feel bad about mentioning as even by association it sullies this fine entry) oddly enough, bridges this article and the last one. Turning it into a star vehicle for Will Smith made a dog's breakfast out of an already delicate concept.</description>
