Girl-Related Issues

I miss The Spice Girls.
In my opinion, pop music has been going downhill steadily ever since they broke up.
That’s it. No lengthy exegesis. Just miss ‘em. Or I miss the late 90s.
And yeah, I know The Spice Girls are regrouping and touring. Not the same.
In other hot girl news, a new installment to the Underworld franchise has been announced. This time, however, the film will be directed by Patrick Tatopolous, the creature fabricator for the previous two Underworld features. Len Wiseman, the handsome, handsome writer/director of record (and Bay Area guy, born in Fremont), will not be involved.
Also conspicuously absent: Kate Beckinsale, the adorable, adorable star of the first two films. You know, the face on the posters, the reason most people paid money to see the otherwise rather convoluted and stilted films in the first place. The new film will, same as before, feature Bill Nighy– and to address the vampire babe factor they are getting Rhona Mitra, who is hot and British and will probably be a fine understudy. But Kate, with that dark hair, that shiny, shiny costume and that “Who needs a spanking from a vampire?” look: THAT is what the new film is going without.
These developments mean the bottom has probably fallen out the of Underworld bucket: No more going to the well, it appears. Mr. Wiseman and Ms. Beckinsale are married, which is probably why they both pulled out together. Besides, there are probably new projects that need their attractive, attractive presences.
