Amy Winehouse apparently blew her interview with the State Department at the U.S. Embassy in Grosvenor Square and was not granted a visa. So we will not be treated to the sight of Amy Winehouse wobbling unsteadily at the podium at the Grammys this Sunday.

Gosh, I don’t know why they wouldn’t stamp her passport. Could be the fact she’s in rehab right now. Or her husband Blake Fielder-Civil is in gaol (er, jail) for GBH and PCJ charges. Or she looked like a tattooed, neurotic mess. I’m going to venture a guess for the real reason and assume the staffers at the embassy are Kanye West fans.

Of course, none of this addresses the awards Winehouse was nominated for. I’ll go ahead and wager she’ll nab… four out of six. But I mentioned in a previous article a lot of credit for her success goes to her producers. She’s got a great voice, but the lush production really helped her soar. Thank Mark Ronson for that. He’s still going to the Grammys.
